Pigs And Battleships 1961
Plot Synopsis
Under the flashy neon lights of Yokosuka lies a seedy world of crime, prostitution, and pigs. Pigs And Battleships shows the mutually exploitative relationship between American soldiers and local citizens in a poor community near a U.S. naval base. Imamura's bleak, cynical vision of post-war Japan is shown through the eyes of Kinta, a young yakuza who gets a job supervising the naval base's pig pen, and his girlfriend Haruko, who is drawn into the world of prostitution in her effort to escape the slums with Kinta.
